Send a card, save a life

This holiday season, share your words of hope. Send a free card to a survivor of sexual abuse behind bars. It could save a life. What if I told you that you could save a life simply by writing a few kind words?

This holiday season, you can send a personal message to survivors of sexual abuse who are behind bars. JDI’s Words of Hope holiday cards are easy to send, and they’re free. And best of all, they’ll go directly to men and women in prison who are struggling to heal -- and in need of some hope.

What will your kindness mean to a survivor behind bars? Just ask Alvin, who was raped when he was 18 while serving time in a county jail. After getting messages from JDI supporters last year, Alvin said: “As I read the cards telling me how I was not forgotten, my eyes got blurry, full of tears. I always thought nobody goes through what I go through. The holiday cards saved my life. “

Words of Hope is a part of GivingTuesday, a national initiative that encourages all of us to give to charitable causes over the holidays. What we’re asking from you costs nothing but, for people like Alvin, means everything.

You have the chance to do something truly special for men and women behind bars, who so often feel isolated and alone. Your words of hope will show them that they are not forgotten.
