KINGSTON, NY (2007-03-22) Rape is a documented problem in United States prisons. The 2003 Federal Prison Rape Elimination Act set out guidelines for governmental control of the problem - but implementation is going slower than scheduled. To encourage lawmakers and prison officials to crack down on rape issues, advocacy group Stop Prisoner Rape released a study today that links prison rape with prisoners serving time for drug charges. WAMC's Julia Taylor reports.
