As short as a tweet

In a few days, JDI will be mailing holiday cards to hundreds of prisoner rape survivors across the country. We want to make sure that your message is included!

In honor of International Human Rights Day, will you write a message today to a survivor behind bars?

All it takes to deliver some holiday cheer to a survivor is a minute of your time and a bit of your compassion. Your simple message – as short as a tweet – will bring hope and comfort to a person who feels forgotten and alone.

The holiday messages from JDI supporters meant everything to Rodney. An inmate at a Louisiana prison, Rodney has been raped multiple times by other inmates during his incarceration. Rodney’s ordeal was devastating – but, thanks to the holiday cards, he found reason to have hope.

Here’s what Rodney said about the cards: “The holidays are extremely tough in prison. It is especially rough for those of us who have no one. It meant everything to me to receive the holiday cards. You are a reminder that there is still so much hope.”

It takes just a minute to write a note to a survivor like Rodney. But please write your message soon, so that we can make sure it gets to a survivor in time for the holidays.

Unsure of what to say to a survivor? Last year, one of the notes Rodney received simply said, “This holiday season, I want you to know that even when the world is unfair and a hard place to live in, there is always hope.”

Thank you so much for your caring support!
