Action Update: Giving hope behind bars
I am delighted to share with you the newest edition of JDI's Action Update. In these pages we celebrate the extraordinary compassion of people like you.
Over the holidays, some 1,700 JDI supporters sent greetings to survivors of prisoner rape -- individuals you have never met, but care about deeply. You'll read testimony from survivors like Ca'Linda, John, and Andrew, who say that your acts of kindness truly made a difference in their lives.
In this update, we also highlight some of JDI's most recent achievements -- which many of you have helped make possible -- from new partnerships with committed corrections officials to a groundbreaking Congressional briefing on the rights of immigration detainees. And we salute Congressman Frank Wolf, who earlier this month demanded that Attorney General Eric Holder take immediate action to finalize national standards addressing prisoner rape.
Hundreds of JDI supporters thanked the Congressman, a co-sponsor of the 2003 Prison Rape Elimination Act, for his most recent contribution to the fight against sexual abuse behind bars.
Thank you for your unwavering commitment to stopping prisoner rape. Together, we will put an end to this international crisis.
