2,000 People Urge the Attorney General: Stop the Sexual Abuse of Prisoners Now
April 15, 2010 -
Thanks to your support more than 2,000 people have already signed JDI's petition calling on Attorney General Eric Holder to enact a strong set of standards aimed at ending sexual abuse behind bars. We launched this effort as the Department of Justice began soliciting
public input on the standards, developed by the National Prison Rape Elimination Commission. Today, JDI is submitting this first round of signatures to the Department of Justice, as part of the official public comment period.
We have only three weeks left to make our voices heard. JDI hopes to more than triple the number of signatures on the petition before the end of the of the comment period (May 10). Please help us support the absolute right of everyone -- regardless of custody status -- to be free of sexual violence.

Thank you for your help in ensuring that the Attorney General takes advantage of this historic opportunity to end prisoner rape.
